From the lights to the music to the Instructor, the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere is what differentiates Spin Class from more traditional exercise methods and makes working out an extremely enjoyable experience!
So, what can you do to level up your Spin Class and keep your attendees coming back for more?
Motivating MusicStart with the music. You want something with a beat that your attendees can pedal to, this will also help set the pace of your class. The more intense you want your class to be, the more beats per minute you should aim for. Consider remixes, party music and house - usually the kind of music you’ll hear in nightclubs.
A pumping playlist is nothing without a solid sound system, however. Investing in a good-quality sound system that maximises your room’s natural acoustics is beyond worthwhile.
You will need to consider audio mixers, amplifiers, speakers and a microphone so your attendees can hear you over your music.
If you need a bit of guidance, you can find some of our recommended sound installs in the Gym Stereos section of our website.
Stimulating LightingLighting is another important factor in setting the atmosphere of your class. It’s difficult to build intensity, provide dynamics and give your Cycle Class that party-like feel without the vibrant lights.
Having coloured lights that move and have adjustable intensities will do wonders for your class. You’ll drastically boost your attendees’ performance, getting them results and keeping them motivated. You’ll also create a unique workout experience that is mentally stimulating and enjoyable!

Finally, as an Instructor it is your responsibility to keep your clients motivated and help them achieve their goals.
There are a few ways you can go about this. Firstly, you want to make regular modifications to your routine. Doing the same thing every time can get very repetitive and boring. You want to keep your Spin Class fun and fresh! So, don’t be afraid of changing up the music and tempo and incorporating additional equipment (such as weights).
You should also aim to build connections and relationships with your clients. Get to know them and let them get to know you. Engage with them and make them laugh! This will make your class even more enjoyable and will also make it a more comfortable environment for both you and your clients, which is particularly important if you have First-Time-Spinners in your class.
Remember that a Cycle Class is only as good as its Instructor. You want to ensure you are going above and beyond to make the class amusing and worthwhile for everyone, otherwise you risk losing your clients.
Investing in your sound system, lighting and Instructors is invaluable to your Spin Class. Each of these components add something to your class and none of them should be left out.
Keep your class fun. Keep your clients coming back. And take pride in knowing you have the best Spin Class in town!
